PA12 – 長炭素鎖ナイロン

PA12, also known as Nylon 12, Polydodecamide, or Polylauractam, is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic with long carbon chain structure. It combines excellent mechanical properties with low water absorption, high dimensional stability, chemical resistance, and toughness. PA12 is lightweight, easy to process, and highly durable.

Compared with PA11, PA12 is cost-effective due to its raw material (butadiene) being only one third the price of castor oil, yet it can replace PA11 in most applications. Its versatility makes it suitable for automotive fuel lines, air brake hoses, submarine cables, 3D printing, and more.

PA12 Product Details

PA12 features a flexible molecular chain due to its high content of non-polar methylene groups. Strong hydrogen bonding ensures high crystallinity and strength. The material offers excellent low-temperature resistance, airtightness, alkali and oil resistance, medium resistance to alcohols and dilute acids, self-extinguishing properties, and superior mechanical and electrical performance.

  • Density: 1.01-1.03 g/cm³, the lightest among engineering plastics, reducing vehicle weight and improving fuel efficiency.
  • Melting Point: 172–178℃, suitable for automotive fuel and brake pipe applications.
  • Water Absorption: Lowest among nylons, ensuring superior dimensional stability.
  • Impact Strength: Excellent, withstanding -20℃ to -40℃ without fracture.
  • Low Temperature Performance: Brittleness temperature down to -70℃, suitable for extreme conditions.
  • Flexibility: Adjustable via plasticizer content to meet application-specific elastic modulus requirements.
  • Low Friction & Wear: Self-lubricating, reduces noise and extends part lifespan.
  • Fuel Resistance: Compatible with modern oxygenated fuels, aromatic fuels, and alcohol mixtures.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Resistant to zinc chloride and UV/ozone aging.
  • Electrical Performance: Excellent dielectric properties even in humid conditions.
